Legacy - inspiration: Memories

K, you may recall from the last vignette, got to bed late last night, and this morning, his head was spinning. Was it all this reflection on personal abundance, was it the wine or was it the last nightcap he really should not have had? No matter, he decided to rest today and perhaps later, go for a walk. So he asked me to be your guide for this last personal vignette.

Since I am not used to doing this, I have decided to simply print a letter a friend once showed me. It was written by her stepdaughter when she was eighteen years old.

"The person I most admire is my stepmother, A; I admire her because of her achievements, values and personal qualities. The first reason why I admire her would be her achievements. The first goal she was able to achieve was to write a book alongside a man she did not like and was calm and worked around their differences. I have a very difficult time working with people I do not get along with. The second achievement A did was to maintain a family even though she had us moving all over the world. The second reason why I admire A would be for his personal qualities. First, A is a very humorous woman. She is able to make me laugh when no one else can. She is also a very gentle and loving person. The last reason I admire A would be her values. The first value that I had a difficult time grasping was to always tell the truth. She made me see that it may be painful at first, but in the end I would feel so much better. The final value is treat others with respect and I will get respect. This value I learned quickly and the hard way. In conclusion, if A had not been in my life since the age of three, taken me in as her own child, taught me her achievements and values and laid upon me her personal qualities, I do not believe I would be where I am today."
